Some thoughts on Frozen Fenway and looking ahead

Its been a busy past few days, but I have finally digested the happenings from Fenway and I think I can break it down to a list of 4 things:

  1. The atmosphere was incredible. I have never been to outdoor hockey before, but this was awesome. It was also freezing, but the snow added to the atmosphere. It did not help BC though.....
  2. The weather and ice conditions did not favor BC's open passing/speed attack.
  3. Muse was not as bad as the stats show. He had some bad rebounds, which is where BU scored all three goals.
  4. BC NEEDS to put a big guy in front of the net. Having 3-4 opposing players around your goalie and poking at him is inexcusable. Something needs to be done about this or teams will continue to do this.
Call me a loser. Tell me I'm making excuses. The weather ABSOLUTELY had an effect on the outcome of this game. It is no coincidence that BC didn't start getting going until the snow stopped. The good thing about this is that, hopefully, it won't snow in Conte Forum the rest of the season. A great game, no doubt, but it also exposed something with the rebounds in front of the net as well. This happened multiple times against Denver and it reared its ugly head again Friday night. This needs to be fixed or other teams are going to copy this. We'll see what Providence and Maine do this week....

Speaking of the Friars, I previewed them just before the break. Nothing has really changed about these guys, as they have not won a game since BC beat them on their ice a few weeks ago. Keys to the game? Simple. Play your style of hockey, and for Chrissakes, KEEP THE OTHER GUYS AWAY FROM THE GOALIE!!
Prediction: BC 4 PC 1
